Breece's Cafe started as a pie wagon in 1939 by John and Bessie Breece. John and Bessie moved into the current building in 1946. Their son, Edward, and his wife, Lucille, joined the family business in 1947. In 1980, Linda Breece Bates and her husband, Jerry, entered into the business. In 1983 Jerry and Linda purchased the adjacent building expanding occupancy to 156 patrons.
Today, the family is in its third generation of homecooked food, southern hospitality, and family tradition. Lucille still makes pies at the Cafe, and Linda's sister, Sherry Smithson, has joined in the busness. It is truly a family cafe. |
